Before the tornado
After
Thank you for caring! This website has been donated to help the victims of the Greensburg Kansas tornado and will allow you to put money directly into the hands of the victims who have lost everything and do it quickly which is so important.
The Coldwater Ministerial Alliance is in Coldwater, KS, about 23 miles away from the Greensburg site. Greensburg lost its bank facility, but has something temporary going in (if it isn't already) so that people can retrieve some funds. People will be able to use this money not only to get essentials in order to set up housekeeping in FEMA trailers up in the Greensburg area, but also for the housing, both temporary and permanent, that they establish in the outlying areas, such as Coldwater. They also will need to get food and other necessities. A lot of their jobs were there in Greensburg. We will be taking care of the tornado refugees who come to Coldwater first, as they are the ones we can get to first. Right now, there are no refugees in FEMA trailers in the Coldwater area, as they are currently using them to house disaster crews. (This was not as we understood it the other day, so they may just have changed their mind, especially due to transportation availability.) Instead, the tornado victims are living in any available housing we have here in Coldwater, whether it's rental, purchased, motel, or rooming with relatives.
We will also use this site to update you on what is happening in the lives of these people as they build their lives back from the ground up. The local pastors will be giving us personal stories and photos so you can know what the needs are as they change.
Some of us who live in Conway Arkansas survived the F5 tornado of 1965 that leveled part of our town. We are so blessed to have this chance to practice giving back in such a personal way.
Please check back daily for updates.
